New Year Gorham Countdown Device Designed by 9-Year Old
Autumn Heil, a Gorham Village School third grader, submitted the winning design proposal for this year’s Countdown Device for New Year Gorham. Amy Valentine, Autumn’s mother explained that the three-dimensional compass design was completely Autumn’s idea and that her daughter even created a catch phrase for it–Take a New Direction in 2010.
The “Compass” will highlight the countdown to 2010 that will precede the fireworks display culminating this year’s New Year Gorham.

New Year Gorham News - Silent Auction Fundraiser!
On Friday, October 23, 2009 New Year Gorham hosted a Silent Auction. The community was invited for an evening of entertainment, light refreshments and a chance to bid on countless valuable items. Thanks to Bruce, Duane and Alice for making this evening a huge success! All proceeds went toward New Year Gorham, specifically to keep the cost of admission at an affordable family price. We would so like to thank our auction donors that made this event possible.
How will all this happen?
Volunteers, with the cooperation of the Town of Gorham’s public safety, fire, public works and recreation departments, coordinate this community-wide event. Churches, the library and other public buildings serve as various venues where performances are scheduled throughout the evening. They offer a variety of entertainment, which is presented for families and people of all ages to enjoy.
The New Year rings in with an exciting celebration at midnight culminating with a fireworks display at YourSpace at midnight accompanied by music, dancing and lots of Auld Lang Syne.
